Season of Change

I write this with a heavy heart, but as a message of hope. Obviously the "Time for Change" is what the majority of Americans desire. Late yesterday afternoon I had my own realization of a "time for change". Let me first say that in case you haven't figured out from previous entries, that I LOVE summer! I love the sunshine! I love warm weather! I love long days! I love sweaty, stinky little boys! I love tank tops, flip flops! I love driving with the windows down! I love NO SCHOOL!

Anyway, there is a tree on the back of our property that I have almost been drawn to the last few days. It is turning the most beautiful hue of red. Although I enjoy seeing the Fall colors, I still don't love them because this means that my beloved Summer has come to an end. For some reason (and now I know why) I put Meg into her sling & with camera in hand we began a trek around the backside of our land. I couldn't believe the beauty in what I was seeing. The colors are unbelievable! The berries are blooming! There are deer & other little critter tracks everywhere! I'm so thankful that God sent me on this journey because it gives me a little peace for today. I am reminded that he is control!

Why do the leaves change colors and eventually fall to the earth? I've always seen it as a death of Summer, but now I notice that it is really an opportunity for a rebirth every Spring. Trees that have become dry and withered are allowed to become beautiful lush green trees each Spring. Perhaps this "Time for Change" is a time for me to experience a rebirth, a rebirth of my faith.

New things are also coming to life. I notice berries of red, blue & black. They are in the trees & in the bushes. If it weren't for this "time of change" then would they ever have a chance to bloom? Would I have ever seen them?

As I see the deer tracks at our pond, I am reminded of the song and pray that just as it says that my soul longs for Jesus, that I will always remember that he is the real joy-giver, my strength & shield. He always provides. No matter what! He has always provided for my family. The God that was in control yesterday is the God that is control today so what have I to fear?

And, finally as I looked down at little Meg in her sling I see the most extraoridnary thing. She has the clearest blue eyes & as she is looking upward I can see a reflection of the sky, of the heavens. I pray that when others see me & most especially my children, that they will see a relection of our Heavenly Father, that they will see my eyes fixed on Heaven. I pray that as our country begins this new journey, that we will be mindful that God is in control. I pray that we will take time to see the beauty along the way. I pray that we pray for our leaders! I pray that we are thankful for this beautiful country that God made! I pray that we are thankful to all of the men & women who have sacrificed that we can have a choice & that we can vote in a free democratic country! I pray that we are a reflection of Heaven!

Well said.

It's been interesting discussing this with the kids. They had a huge discussion at youth group tonight. Here's the summary they discussed:

The Christian response to ANY election is the same:
1. God is in control (Prov. 21:1)
2. Pray for Rulers (1 Tim. 2:1)
3. Lead a peaceful and quiet life (1 Tim. 2:2)
4. Be godly and dignified (1 Tim. 2:2)
5. Share the gospel (1 Tim. 2:3-4)
6. Honor the one in authority (1 Peter 2:17)
7. Submit to the one in authority (Rom. 13:1-2)
8. Seek righteousness (ask the question "what would worship be" (Prov. 14:34 and of course 1 Cor. 10:31)

A lost world is watching the "evangelical" response. What do they hear out of our mouths?
