My Soundtrack

So Cole & I got iPods for Christmas this year. As I was going through the millions of choices, I am amazed at how a song can take you back to such vivid memories of people, places and times in your life. I picked a few of my favorites to share. What are yours???

Doesn't everyone from our generation have this on their list? This was my first ever cassette tape. I played it over & over while Krissy & I danced in the driveway.

Still my favorite movie! I wore out a couple of cassette tapes of this soundtrack before moving to the CD. I also wore out a few VHS tapes before Kate got me the DVD. Kevin Bacon is still a hottie!

I got this cassette along with my first ever boombox. How funny...our kids will never know what a boombox is!

The first (and thank God, the only) time that I thought that I was talented enough to participate in the school talent show, I chose to dance to the song "Crush on You". What was I thinking?

Willie Nelson with his long braids always make me think of a poster that used to hang in my GanGan's house. Funny that such a straight-laced woman loved the pot-smoking hippie! When I think of Willie, I think of her.

Back before George Strait was a big deal, he came to our county fair. The county fair was a bigger deal than he was. Many years later, he would be in some more favorite memories like front-row with Ryan & my best friend, Leslie.

My first big hair band concert--Nelson and Cinderella. I still have the glow-in-the-dark pick that one of them threw into the crowd. Bless my Daddy's heart for sitting on the 3rd row with a bunch of starry-eyed middle school girls!

This one takes me back to line dancing at Roper's. This is where I met Ryan. Funny thing...now that I think about it, I don't ever remember seeing him dance.

If you knew Ryan "back in the day" then you know that he always had a big truck with huge tires and big booming speakers. On our first date, I guess he was trying to impress me with Snoop Dogg. Good thing he was so good lookin' because Snoop Dogg definitely did not impress!

This was the first concert that Ryan & I ever went to together. The first of many!

On our wedding day, we decided to see each other before we walked down the aisle so we could get all the pictures out of the way. As I walked in Ryan had "Look at you Girl" playing. It was so sweet! Brings back wonderful memories of a wonderful day!

After years of (still) listening to big hair bands, we had the opportunity to go with Lucas & Kate to see Poison not-so-long ago. I must admit, it was awesome! The best part...seeing all those people who still think it's the 80's!

I never liked boy bands. While all my friends were fighting over NKOTB, I was listening to guess what...big hair bands! But for some strange reason in my 20's when JT & his nSync crew came along, I kinda liked them. Ryan bought this CD for my stocking. I would have given anything to have seen him at the store! I laugh everytime I think about it!

OH Kenny! You are so many memories! My favorite is that the song "Summertime" is the first non-church song that the boys ever memorized every word of. This song makes me smile from ear to ear! I really wish I had recorded their sweet little voices belting it out!

The song "Far Away" was played in a video at Adam Loggins' funeral. He was killed in Iraq. I get teary eyed everytime I hear that song. I think of the video of him with his family & friends. It reminds me to be thankful for each & every day!

The first song downloaded onto my new iPod: "Dixieland Delight"

I'll never forget being in the car with you and your boys and Ben requesting the "Bow wow" song aka "Summertime". I'm kinda surprised that your favorite Rascal Flatts album didn't make your list.

All right, I have to chime in on any kind of music post!

That Alan Jackson CD "Who I Am" is awesome. One of the best country albums of the past 20 years, in my opinion. Not a bad cut on the whole disc.

And Kenny Chesney is the man. I love almost everything he's ever done, except that tractor song.

Isn't it funny to see how Tim McGraw has changed over the last 15 years or so? The music he puts out now sounds so polished up compared to some of those early songs (like Indian Outlaw and Don't Take the Girl).

"Dixieland Delight" should be the National Anthem of the South. Either that or "Freebird".

Oh, and another random comment: Gary Bradley is also a huge Willie Nelson fan. Who knew?!?

Jason, I agree with you about Dixieland Delight and I'm still laughing over Gary Bradley loving Willie. That just made my day.

Too funny, gabgirl! Funnier that I don't remember any of those--you must be so much older than me :) Unfortunately (since I, like Sunny had 45s) that was totally a joke & I remember thinking that I really could move like Janet.

As a side note, do you think that our parents would have ever bought us "Thriller" had they known what an absolute FREAK he would turn into?

I have to say that front row with George was GREAT!!! I can still see Ryan singing "The Fireman" and eating only toast at Cracker Barrel!:) Also, You forgot to add that the big trucks didn't always have seats. Wild rides in the Bronco when Ryan was the only one with a seat! What would we do to relive some of those Great Times?
